After a few minutes, they slowly parted from the embrace, though it felt as if the warmth of that hug still lingered around them. The marks of dried tears streaked their faces, but for the first time in what felt like an eternity, a soft, genuine smile graced their lips. It was a smile filled with relief, hope, and something they had almost forgottenβpeace.
